Supporting EPs

Professional supervision for Educational Psychologists

Professional Supervision

I have over six years’ experience and training in providing reflective professional supervision for over twenty EPs, trainee EPs and school staff (including school leaders).  I provide a protected safe space for you to explore any professional issues arising in your practice, with you guiding the session agenda.

We will spend time contracting at the beginning of our supervisory relationship, to ensure that I am clear about your hopes for supervision, and review at the end of each session.

Supervision Testimonials

Below is a sample of testimonials from EPs that I have supervised

" Kate has provided me with supervision for the last 2 years, and it is a highlight of my month. Kate makes me feel safe and secure, which creates the right environment for me to share and make myself vulnerable. These are vital ingredients for effective reflective supervision. Kate emotionally holds, while asking open questions, offering reflections, affirming good practice, and summarising views in a coherent nature. I feel listened to, understood, and heard, and this allows me to reflect and figure out my next steps. I thoroughly enjoy my sessions with Kate; they enhance my practice, and support my professional development. "

" I feel incredibly fortunate to have had Kate as a supervisor for two years. Kate has many skills and qualities that make her an excellent supervisor. She is warm, friendly and approachable, making it easy to develop rapport and build a positive relationship. I have most valued the safe and secure environment Kate is able to create within supervision, which has made it possible for me to share honestly and openly without fear of judgement. She has validated and normalised my experiences and helped me to explore ways forward in a solution-focused way.  "

" Kate has supported me to ensure that I get the most out of each supervision session, encouraging me to bring a key question, set an agenda or prioritise the things that are most important to me to discuss. She is flexible in her approach, asking key questions to encourage reflection and introducing psychological tools and frameworks to help structure our conversations. At times when personal and professional challenges have felt overwhelming, Kate has been a hugely important source of support and I cannot recommend her highly enough as a supervisor.  "

" Kate provides a confidential and non-judgmental space which enables me to think about what is important to me and what I want to change or work on.  She has a gentle way of supporting and also challenging my thinking.  This is often in the shape of questions or reflections. Challenge is contracted or negotiated in the moment, so I feel I have a sense of agency, empowerment and safety. "

" Kate’s ability to reflect back my thinking helps me to organise and prioritise my thoughts, enabling me to leave supervision feeling lighter and also with a sense of purpose.  "

" Kate’s approach feels solution focused and nurturing with a focus on enabling me to feel contained and helping me to be the psychologist I want to be.  This involves using techniques purposefully to help me reframe my thinking. "
